the write one

The idea of offering pencils in my shop has been on my mind for awhile. With Valentine’s day coming up I thought they would make a nice favor for kids to add to their Valentine’s cards since a lot of schools don’t allow candy. My sister came up with “you are the write one” and I foil stamped it on some natural wood pencils. I went with golf size pencils so they will fit into my valentine cards so kids can stick them right in the envelopes.

Every year I like to give my nieces and nephew an ornament for Christmas. This year I made them ornaments from an old pair of pajamas I bought for them years ago. My sister didn’t want to part with them so I figured I would give the pj’s a new life.

The hearts didn’t come out perfect, but they are cute and hopefully years from now when they all have a Christmas tree of their own they will have a bit of their childhood to decorate it with (my sister also got a heart of her own).

around the web …

Today was a good day for my planners. First they were mentioned on the lovely paper filled blog Oh So Beautiful Paper along with some other great planners. Next up they made it to the front page of etsy in a treasury about 2011. Lastly, Holly from Decor8 included them in her etsy take five gift guide (The description of the organized girl who my planner is perfect for is pretty funny — do you think she knows I haven’t changed my hair since fifth grade?).

Thanks!

hingham holiday market

This past weekend I was up in Massachusetts in Hingham at a holiday market. I haven’t done a show in a year, so I had a lot of work to do before hand. Lucky for me I have a super helpful family (including my two little nieces) helping me punch, cut and packages lots of new goodies. Once I am caught up on orders there will be new tags, postcards, stickers and more available in my etsy shop.

The photo above was taken by the lovely Liza of Dasken Designs. My mom spent the weekend with me at the show so I got her a necklace that she wanted from Liza as a Christmas gift. Once I got back to my booth and my mom saw the box she ripped it out of my hands and I haven’t seen it since – so Merry Christmas Mom.

weekend crafting

This past weekend my crafty 8 year old niece had a sleepover at my house and we spent a little time sewing. From an old fleece, some fabric scraps and a handful of batting we got an adorable little owl. She ran the pedal of the sewing machine and hand stitched on the eyes and nose. For her first sewing project I think it came out pretty cute. (Now we just need to get it back to her from the bottom of Grandma’s car.)

the holidays and organizing …

Every year by this time I am all set for the holidays — with new designs photographed and added to my website and my studio decorated with a Christmas tree and stocked full of holiday gift tags, stickers and cute easy gifts.

This year I am not so ready. New designs are made and slowly making it online. So recently I am trying to get in the spirit by listening to a Christmas station on Pandora and straightening up my workroom to get ready for the holiday rush.
